Naivasha Yacht Club

Naivasha Yacht Club was established in 1932 and enjoys a most spectacular setting on the south side of Lake Naivasha on Lotus island with fantastic views of Mount Longonot. It's a private members club with approximately 165 memberships and provides an ideal opportunity for a fun day of sailing with your family in a very casual atmosphere.  We welcome anyone who is interested in sailing from absolute beginners to those who have international experience, we have several types of membership you can see here. Throughout the year we hold training events for adults and cadets and there is at least one racing event every month.

The Club comprises a clubhouse with a lounge, bar and kitchen facilities, outside there are patios and several BBQs for members and their guests to use.  There are changing rooms with hot showers and bandas for those who wish to stay overnight, there is also space for about ten large family tents for those who wish to camp. There is a boat park to leave your boat and lockable stores for your other equipment.  The Club also offers boats for hire and currently has six Lasers, eight Optimists, one GP14 and an Enterprise, you can see the hire rates here.

Security at the club is good as the only way to reach the club by road is through a private farm which creates a natural security barrier. When the water in the lake is high, the only way to reach the island is by boat! The Club has a permanent staff, Patrick the Club Supervisor lives on the island and is always there to assist you.

The Club is also a very relaxing spot for those of your family who don't sail, although we encourage non-sailors to learn. There are obviously opportunities for children to swim in the lake or simply play on the shore line. There are wonderful walks for those interested in Kenya's diverse birdlife and there are resident wildebeest and waterbuck on the island itself along with a number of hippos. Please contact our Club Supervisor if you would like to visit for a tour of the Club and it's facilities.
